Embracing Gentleness and Good Character: Lessons for Muslim Moms ๐Ÿ’–

ย

“Whenever gentleness is in a thing it beautifies it and whenever it is withdrawn from something it defaces.”ย

ย

How often do we remind ourselves of these words about gentleness and good character from our Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)? As Muslim moms, we strive every day to build a home that instills the values of the Quran, and there’s no better starting point than embodying gentleness and good character.

ย

The Power of Gentleness and Good Character: Teaching by Example ๐Ÿ’ซ

ย

Allaah instructed the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) to inform others, “Say: This is my way and I invite to Allaah with certain knowledge โ€ฆ”

ย

Our Prophet’s teachings emphasized that kindness and gentleness should be part of every believer’s nature. A key point that surfaces in these teachings is how gentleness does more than just beautifyโ€”it empowers and enlightens. It helps us communicate effectively with our children, inspiring them to embrace our deen wholeheartedly.

ย

“If you were harsh and hard hearted, they would have fled from around you.” (Soorah Aali Imraan 3:159)

ย

Remember, our children observe and absorb our actions more than our words. Let’s not just tell them about gentlenessโ€”let’s show them.

ย

Your Actions Speak Louder Than Words ๐Ÿ—จ๏ธ๐Ÿ’•

ย

“And by the mercy of Allaah you dealt with them gently.” (Soorah Aali Imraan 3:159)

ย

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said, “Indeed, I was only sent to complete the most noble of character traits.”

ย

The most beloved to Allah are those who are best in character. We, as mothers, are not just raising children; we are nurturing the future believers. Our role is to guide them in adopting the beautiful character traits that our Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) embodied. How we treat others around us, our behavior in challenging times, our honesty, and our kindness will shape their character more than any lecture.

ย

When asked about the Prophetโ€™s (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) character, his wife said, “His character was that of the Qur’aan.”ย

ย

Nurture Through The Qur’an ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’ž

ย

“Indeed you have in the Messenger of Allaah a beautiful example (of conduct)…” (Sooratul Ahzaab 33:21)

ย

The Prophet’s life gives us numerous examples of patience, gentleness, humility, and love for all Muslims. His character was a reflection of the Qur’an itself. Let’s aim to embed the Qur’anic values into our lives and the lives of our children. This will not only help us attain a tranquil household but also a community filled with love and kindness.

ย

Communicate with Wisdom and Patience ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒบ

ย

When Allaah instructed Prophets Moosaa and Haaroon (alayhumassalaam) to gently speak to Pharaoh, He said, “So speak to him, both of you, mildly in order that he may reflect or fear God.”

ย

“Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom โ€ฆ” (Sooratun Nahl 16:125)

ย

Our role is to communicate and impart Islamic teachings to our children with wisdom and patience. Let us remember that our children are a trust from Allah. It’s essential to adopt a gentle approach, allowing them space to grow and understand.

ย

Fulfilling Our Responsibilities As Moms ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ’–

ย

“Your responsibility is only to convey [the message] and the accounting is on Me.” (Sooratur Rad 13:40)

ย

As mothers, we are responsible for guiding our children on the righteous path. The rest is in Allah’s hands. It’s critical to remember that we can only do our best and that the ultimate outcome depends on Allah’s will.

ย

Guiding Our Kids towards Gentleness and Good Character ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ’

ย

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said, “Righteousness is good character and sin is what itches in your heart and you dislike that people would find out about it.”

ย

Teaching our kids about good character means teaching them about righteousness. When our kids internalize these values, they start to understand that wrongdoing is not just about what others may discover but about what doesn’t sit right within their hearts.

ย

The Highest Faith is the Best Character ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ’—

ย

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said, “The believer whose faith is most complete is he whose character is best.”

ย

As Muslim moms, let’s strive to raise children who not only have a strong faith but also possess the best of characters. When gentleness and good character become part of our family’s culture, it strengthens the foundation of our deen, ultimately leading us closer to Allah.

ย

In conclusion, let’s remember these beautiful words from the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam): “Whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor, he should be kind to his guest and he should either speak good or be silent.”

ย

With gentleness in our hearts and good character in our actions, let’s continue to nurture our little ones on this beautiful path. Together, we can build a future generation of believers who embody the spirit of Islam, living their lives with kindness, compassion, and wisdom. ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ•Œ๐ŸŒธ
